Step into the shadows of the past with the Ghost, Legends, and Lore Tour of Historic Murfreesboro, where the cobblestone paths and colonial buildings whisper stories of centuries gone by. Hosted by the Murfreesboro Historical Association, this immersive evening experience winds through authentic structures dating from the late 1700s to early 1800s, each one steeped in local lore, legendary figures, and unexplained phenomena.

🕯️ Tour Highlights

The John Wheeler House: Built in 1810 as a retail store, then a residence, now said to echo with footsteps after dark...
Roberts-Vaughan House (c. 1790s): Where flickering lights and chilling drafts fuel rumors of restless spirits.
Winborne Law Office and William Rea Museum: Discover tales of colonial trials and ghostly visitors that haven’t quite left.
The Historic Cemetery Stop: Hear the chilling accounts of wartime hauntings and long-lost family secrets.

👣 What to Expect
Guides in costume will lead groups by lantern-light, as docents at each stop recount documented hauntings, local legends, and eerie occurrences passed down through generations. Participants may even encounter a mysterious breeze, a whispered voice—or something more spine-tingling.

Held Saturday October 18, 2025 (rainout date October 25, 2025). Space is limited for an intimate experience, so early reservations are highly encouraged. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for 18 and under, and $10 for students with a valid college ID and can be purchased from the Murfreesboro Historical Website located here: https://murfreesboronc.org/shop/ols/categories/event-tickets

Tours begins behind the Elizabeth Sewell Parker Library located at 213 East Main Street at 7 pm with staggered groups going on a walk-through in our historic district.
